Abby and Matt

November 17, 2008

What a beautiful wedding this was! Abby and Matt had their own wedding coordinator, Margie Walinski from Party Presentations, to handle the entire event. There were so many great touches, everything from their rich colored linens to the centerpieces to the menu programs.  Here are some pictures of their Fall inspired decor:

Cake by Ellie, our pastry chef. This was among one of my favorite designs. So simple, yet modern and elegant at the same time.

Congratulations to Abby and Matt, thank you for choosing Orange Tree!

Latreece and Jason

November 15, 2008

Congratulations to Latreece and Jason! They got married here at Orange Tree last weekend. That particular Sunday was quite cloudy and windy, and we were hearing stories about snow and hail coming our way! Luckily the storm was moving away from us, so we were lucky enough to be able to hold the ceremony outdoors like originally planned. Latreece’s father sang and played the piano during the ceremony, which was such a beautiful touch.

Here are some pics from their cocktail hour and reception in our Mariposa Ballroom. Thanks to Melissa at Twinkle ‘N’ Tulle for doing such a great job with the draping!

Jody and Adam

November 12, 2008

Jody and Adam are getting married here at Orange Tree next year. I love hearing stories about our wedding couples! Here is Jody and Adam’s story:

How we met:
“Believe it or not, we met in 2003 in Vegas!  They say, “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”  Well, not true!  We went to Vegas to meet up with mutual college friends to watch ASU in the NCAA Tournament.  We connected immediately over ASU Basketball and the rest is history.  After dating long distance for a couple of years, Adam moved to San Diego to be with me in 2005.  After living at the beach together for 3 years, we relocated to the Phoenix area to be closer to our friends and family and ASU Football.”

The proposal:
“Adam had an elaborate plan to propose on our recent trip to Rome.  But he knew I thought that’s when he would do it, so he was wise to surprise me before the trip.  So, after a weekend away in late July, he came home around midnight and woke me up to a surprise proposal.  I had no idea it was coming and couldn’t have been more perfect.”

Our hobbies:
“Adam and I are huge ASU fans.  We are football (and basketball) season ticket holders and can be seen tailgating every home game outside of Wells Fargo Arena. In addition to being sports fans, we love taking our yellow lab Wrigley for long walks and playing with her in our pool.  We also enjoy traveling and are looking forward to the honeymoon!”

Why we chose Orange Tree:
“My parents have been owners at Orange Tree for years.  We’ve eaten Sunday Brunch there many times and one particular time, a wedding was being set up.  I told my parents that when I got married, I wanted it to be at Orange Tree.  So after Adam and I were engaged, I knew we had to be married here.”

Jody, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful story with us!

Kimberly and Tim

November 10, 2008

Congratulations to Kimberly and Tim! They will be getting married here at Orange Tree in May, and Kim was kind enough to share their story:

Tim and I met when we were both undergraduate students at Arizona State University.  After we had been dating for about two and a half years Tim moved to Boston for a year to complete his master’s degree at MIT and I stayed at ASU finishing mine.  Once we had both finished school, Tim accepted a job in Houston so we packed up and moved, excited to start our life together in a new city.  We found a great apartment and lived there for six months before we found our dream home.  Although we had not intended to buy a home so soon, we decided to take that leap even before an official engagement.  I had no idea, but Tim had asked my parents for permission to marry me back in December and all along he had been planning on proposing to me the weekend of my birthday in early March.  This just happened to be the weekend after we bought the house.  Since the house was a new build, and no one was living in it, Tim had arranged for the builder to open up the house and we went over on Friday after work, excited to check everything out again.  Much to my surprise, when we reached the master bedroom there was a blanket covered in roses with champagne and strawberries.  Tim got down on his knee and asked me to marry him.  We have since moved into our beautiful new home and love living here in Houston.”

“Tim was in Japan on business so I was with my mom when I chose the Orange Tree as the location to have our wedding.  I picked it because I not only liked the ceremony location and reception area, I also wanted a beautiful place where friends and family could have fun staying for the weekend.  I know Tim will find the resort a perfect place too and we are looking forward to our big day.  We love to travel together and have been on many trips over the years so we are incorporating the memories and photos of all of our trips in creating our wedding theme.”

What a sweet sweet story! Thanks again Kim, I’m looking forward to working with you guys!
